When you start Simple Screenshot for the first time the application appears, so you can configure the settings so they work best for you. From that moment on, it’s available in the menubar and can be opened from there.
Simple Screenshot automatically adds itself to the login items, so it always starts when the Mac is starting up, so it can be available in the menubar at all times. When you take your first screenshot, you will need to give permission for “Screen capture“ and also choose a folder to save the screenshots to.

When you take your first screenshot, your Mac will prompt you to grant the “Screen capture“ permission to Simple Screenshot. This is needed in order to take screenshots. Since Simple Screenshot is available in the Mac App Store, it is checked by Apple and needs to meet high security standards.

On your Mac, go to ”System Settings” (the gear icon) and search for “login“. Now you can select “Login Items“. There you will see all applications that are opening on login / system startup and that are allowed to run in the background. Simple Screenshot will also be there, with it’s toggle set to enabled.
